Julie Nekkebroeck
Psychologist at the Centre for Medical Genetics
About Julie Nekkebroeck
Julie Nekkebroeck has been associated with the Centre for Medical Genetics of the UZ Brussel as a psychologist for almost 20 years. Initially via research projects on behalf of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (PE) of the Free University of Brussels/Centre for Medical Genetics, on the development of children born after fertility treatments. In 2008 this resulted in a doctorate titled: ‘The effect of pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) and screening (PGT-AS) on the psychological development of two-year-old single children and twins and parental welfare’. The association with the Centre for Medical Genetics has been strengthened since 2013 by a part-time clinical post in which she works with patients with difficult genetic diagnoses among others during the pre-(and post-) natal period, with a desire for pre-implantation genetic diagnosis treatment or a request for pre-symptomatic screening. Another part-time post is held for the Centre for Reproductive Medicine.
