About Dr. Stijn Lochy
In 2004 Dr. Stijn Lochy graduated from the VUB with great distinction and, in 2010, after training at the UZ Brussel he was appointed as a medical specialist in cardiology. After an additional Fellowship at the Academic Hospital of Maastricht, he also qualified in Intensive Care. After this he continued his career at the UZ Brussel as an interventional cardiologist.
His areas of special interest as an interventional cardiologist are acute cardiology, focusing on acute coronary syndrome, and mechanical support in acute heart failure. In this context he is also part of the ECMO task force of the UZ Brussel. In addition he plays an important role in the interventional treatment of structural heart failure, and, as an interventional cardiologist, he is responsible for the MitraClip programme, percutaneous auricle occlusion, and the percutaneous treatment of PFO and ASD. As a cardiologist and intensive care doctor he is responsible for the Coronary Care Unit, and is also works part-time in the Intensive Care/Cardiosurgery department.
Dr. Lochy is a member of the BSC (Belgian Cardiology Association) and the ACCA (Acute Cardiovascular Care Association), and is a board member of the BIWAC (Belgian Interdisciplinary Working Group on Acute Cardiology)
