About Prof. dr. Jan Versijpt

Prof. Jan Versijpt (°1972) studied medicine at the University of Ghent. He then conducted scientific research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease in the Nuclear Medicine department (UZ Gent), which led to the defending of his thesis. After this, he studied Nuclear Medicine further, graduating as an accredited doctor specialising in Nuclear Medicine. After this, he returned to his first love, Neurology, and began a second course of training as a Neurologist in Antwerp and partly in Groningen (Netherlands). Since November 2008, he has worked as head of the Neurology Clinic at the University Hospital in Brussels, focusing on memory problems and on neurodegenerative disorders as well as headaches and facial pain. He is the (co-)author of over 70 publications in international journals.
