You have complaints…
If you have any complaints, then a targeted examination will be carried out in addition to the preventive aspect of a gynaecological consultation. If you are not yet sexually active, an internal examination will not be carried out.
The most common complaints are as follows:
- Painful or heavy periods
- Irregular periods
- No periods
- Abnormal blood loss (other than during periods)
- Vaginal pain or irritation
- Abnormal vaginal discharge
- Pain in the lower abdomen
- Problems with intercourse
Based on the examination and your complaints, the gynaecologist will then discuss with you the cause of your complaints, whether there could be any consequences and the possible treatments.
In most cases, the cause of the complaints is harmless. This means that your complaints are annoying but have no negative consequences for later on. A treatment is then suggested to limit or overcome the unpleasant complaints.
Sometimes the cause may have negative consequences in the short or long term. In this case, a treatment is suggested to avoid these negative consequences.
