An FFR measurement is a test for narrowing of the coronary arteries. FFR stands for ‘Fractional Flow Reserve' and measures the volume of oxygen-rich blood that flows through your coronary arteries.
An FFR measurement is a test for narrowing of the coronary arteries. FFR stands for ‘Fractional Flow Reserve' and measures the volume of oxygen-rich blood that flows through your coronary arteries.
An FFR measurement can be performed both during cardiac catheterisation (invasive) and via a CT scan (non-invasive). In the latter case we mean a virtual FFR measurement via CT. Your cardiologist checks whether sufficient blood is flowing through your coronary arteries and decides on the best place for the stent or bypass. This makes it possible to plan the best treatment options in the case of an injury to or narrowing of the coronary arteries. In this way this improves your treatment and you recover more quickly from your symptoms.
The UZ Brussel hospital has specialised cardiologists to carry out these measurements reliably. There is very close collaboration with the radiology unit.
