National networking

The Cardiac Surgery department works with the Cardiology department to provide care for patients with a heart disease. There is a collaboration framework involving these two departments, together with other centres in Flanders and Brussels. The collaboration consists of a formal association for the B1, B2, B3 cardiac care programme between UZ Brussel and ASZ Aalst.

The association also includes the regional hospitals in Geraardsbergen, Oudenaarde, Wetteren (A-centres) and the Sint-Blasius hospital in Dendermonde (B1, B2 centre).

There is also a collaboration involving UZ Brussel (B1, B2, B3 centre) and the regional hospitals in Vilvoorde, Halle and CHIREC (A-centres), which has been in place for many years.
