Miscarriage tissue
There may be various reasons for a miscarriage. One of them is a serious chromosomal abnormality as a result of which the foetus is not viable. The body will then reject the foetus itself.
Most early abnormalities in a foetus occur after a new, accidental chromosomal abnormality and are therefore not inherited. In certain cases it may be useful to study the tissue after miscarriage genetically. In repeated and successive miscarriages the CMG can, for example, investigate whether the foetus has a genetic abnormality that may have been inherited from the parents. If that is the case, as prospective parents you have the option of having a PGT treatment.
