About Prof. dr. Danny Schoors
Prof. dr. Danny Schoors is Head of Unit in the Cardiology Department. He has been working in the department for 25 years and is responsible for the daily organisation of the Interventional Cardiology unit (cathlab). In 1991 he completed his doctoral thesis on the role of intrarenal dopamine in the onset of arterial hypertension. His interest therefore is mainly in coronary diseases and their treatment. But, taking account of his scientific background, he has always maintained an interest in arterial hypertension.
He is also an active member of the Belgian Hypertension Committee. Prof. Dr. Schoors lectures at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the VUB [Free University of Brussels], both on the Bachelors course and on Masters courses. He is responsible for the lectures on ‘Physiology and pathophysiology of the heart and blood vessels’, the course on ‘Heart & vascular diseases’ and the lectures on ‘Electrocardiography’. He is also an active member of the Medical Board and Chairman of the Committee of Medical Investments in the UZ Brussel.
